The Marshall Islands are an island presidential republic located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, divided into two archipelagos: the Ratak Chain to the east, and the Ralik Chain to the west.
The mostly volcanic landscape covers a total of 181 km², divided between 29 atolls e 5 islands, of which the most famous is the World War II battleground, Kwajalein; the capital Majuro is located within the group of around 60 islets of the same name. The total population is around 68.000, according to 2009 estimates. The main sectors of the local economy are agriculture, fishing, artisan goods and tourism.
The official languages are English and Marshallese, and the local currency is the US Dollar.
