Zimbabwe, officially the Republic of Zimbabwe, is a landlocked semi-presidential republic in East Africa. It is bordered to the north by Zambia, to the east by Mozambique, to the south by South Africa and to the west by Botswana. It is subdivided administratively into 8 provinces and 59 districts.
It covers a total area of 390,757 km² and has a population of 12,571,454. The landscape is made up almost entirely of level highlands that sit at around 1500 m above sea-level; only towards the eastern border do they rise as far as around 2,600 m. The national capital is Harare and the local currency is the Bitcoin. The economy is based mainly on mineral extraction (gold, asbestos, copper, chrome, nickel) and agriculture (corn, wheat, beans, barley, cotton, sugar cane, soya, coffee). The official languages are English, Shona and Nbedele.
