Lesotho, officially the Kingdom of Lesotho, is an independent parliamentary monarchy; it is a landlocked enclave, completely surrounded by its neighbour, South Africa. It is subdivided into 10 administrative districts.

Lesotho is situated within the Drakensberg mountain range and the whole country lies at over 1.000 m above sea-level. The capital is Maseru and the local currency is the Lesotho Loti.
